When I read this story on concreteloop.com I couldnt believe it... From Kindergarten to 12th grade I was in a program called M.E.T.C.O. that bussed "inner city" youth to suburban schools, to further the integration of the majority white school systems in the surrounding towns of Boston, Ma. That program has been around since the 70's and to imagine that in Mississippi as of 2008, whites and blacks were still not partying together at prom is absurd.. To even hear that Morgan Freeman had offerred to sponsor this prom back in 1997, and his offer was denied... but in 2008 they finally accepted.. HBO did a documentary on the towns preparations for this prom that aired last night. Hopefully it will be available on ON DEMAND or they will air it again so that more can see. SMH>
